History
The annual Columbiana Street Fair Parade steps off at 6:15pm lead by the Columbiana American Legion Post 290 Color Guard. The Parade is organized by our very own Columbiana Fire Department Chief Rick Garrity has been at the helm since 2007 after taking over for Chief Charlie Flohr who had been Chief since 1976. Our Master of Ceremonies is The American Legions very own Brian Pearl who took over for long time voice of the Columbiana Street Fair Ray Taylor.
Every year we have dozens of veteran, civic, volunteer, and church organizations march in the parade. We have several area fire departments showing off their newest engines as well. For the car enthusiast we have nearly 100 classic cars line up every year to show their stuff. With all these different groups you can imagine that there is 100's of pounds of candy thrown for the children. Make sure to place your chair early on East Park and North Main St early you will not want to miss this parade!
Interested participants
Anyone interested in participating in the parade should arrive at Firestone Park at 5pm Thursday Sept 4th 2025, and meet with the organizers to get lined up.
ALL FLOAT REGISTRANTS need to enter the park at the East entrance across from the cemetery entrance and meet with the Columbiana FD Volunteers.
ALL ANTIQUE/CLASSIC CAR ENTRYS need to enter the park across from Josies and head to pavilion 4 parking lot.
Military appreciation
There has always been a U.S. Military presence at the American Legion Columbiana Street Fair. It may have gone mostly unnoticed but it is always there. It’s thanks to the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Whether they are Legion members selling raffle tickets and hamburgers or Veterans young and old attending the Fair just to enjoy the festive atmosphere, the U.S. Military is always present.
special needs day
Friday at Noon every year at the Columbiana Street Fair
we host the most incredible group of children for a few hours. That group of children has grown to well over a hundred since we began doing this for over 30 years.
Every year we invite all the special needs students to a private time at the Columbiana Street Fair were we at the American Legion provide them a free lunch and a time of unlimited rides at no charge.
We have volunteers that have helped with this particular event every year and it is one of the most humbling experiences they have, and a true honor to be able to do this for this group.
COLUMBIANA STREET FAIR BANNER DESIGN CHALLENGE
WE ARE READY TO UPGRADE FROM THE OLD BANNER!
Ok all you creative people out there… now is your chance to make your mark on the Columbiana Street Fair. We need a new banner next year and we are looking for you to give us designs!
Your designs need to be printed out to submit but also available in high resolution format to send to have the banner made later.
We will be accepting banner designs throughout the month of Sept.
We look forward to seeing the great ideas you come up with!!!
You can submit your banner designs printed out to the American Legion on Route 14 or to the Ticket trailer at the Street Fair this weekend!
CRITERIA
The criteria for the banner is 2’6” tall and 20’ wide.
The design needs to incorporate the following
- The American Legion
- The Columbiana Street Fair logo
- a spot for the date and the numbered year we are at. For instance 2025 will be 138th Fair and the dates Sept 4,5, & 6
- our slogan “The State Fair of Street Fairs!”
- Americanism by (red white and blue) or some other creative way
